Our Priorities

The overall focus of South Ribble Partnership is to deliver our long term vision for South Ribble, support the aspirations of local people and deliver improved services by working better together.
Our partners work together with local communities to deliver innovative projects that contribute to our shared vision and priorities for South Ribble. This work is focussed around five key priority areas:

Supporting people & communities. We will…

  • Work with local people and invest in local communities to create a sense of pride and mutual respect
  • Focus on reducing inequality - work to narrow the gap where inequalities exist
  • Improve communication and engagement with local people and communities
  • Understand and address the differing needs of our diverse local communities, particularly specific groups such as Children and Young People and Older People
  • Recognise, promote and strengthen the role of the voluntary, community and faith sector organisations in service delivery

Growing a prosperous economy. We will...

  • Support regeneration and economic growth
  • Boost enterprise and entrepreneurship in South Ribble
  • Develop knowledge, innovation and skill levels within the working age population
  • Maximise external funding opportunities for growth and sustainable development
  • Seek investment in economic infrastructure including transport, digital and green business

Improving health & wellbeing. We will...

  • Tackle health inequalities and the root causes of health issues such as alcohol, poor diet and loack of exercise.
  • Raise awareness, support and encourage people to make healthy lifestyle choices and keep fitter for longer
  • Improve children and young people's health and wellbeing
  • Support older people to maintain independence, good health and wellbeing
  • Ensure that other issues influencing health - such as housing, poverty, employment and environment - are being tackled through parnership working

Creating safer neighbourhoods. We will...

  • continue to reduce crime and the fear of crime
  • Reduce fire incidents and reaise awareness of fire safety and prevention
  • Develop a sense of mutual respect between local people and communities
  • Address alcohol and drug issues as a root of many problems
  • Improve road safety and awareness of road safety issues

Protecting our environment and adapting to Climate Change. We will...

  • Ensure that the Borough's buildings, streets and open spaces are well planned and well maintained and that they are welcoming and accessible to everyone
  • Protect and enhance the Borough's natural environment and its inhabitants
  • Encourage and support local businesses and individuals to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions
  • Raise awareness of climate changes issues and actiona that businesses / individuals can take to make a difference
  • Encourage and support the developoment of 'green' transport initiatives, including walking, cycling and use of public transport
